Website

The website of mine meets the target audiences needs due to the fact it is a simple looking website and easily accessible. This is because the internet is accessible by a lot of people in the country. So, this is why I gave my website a simple look as if people who are at a older age may find it harder to use the website if it was made in a complex way. The functions of my website are I have 3 pages. All the 3 pages have a different function one is about the company one is the contact information and on is the home page. The software we used was Adobe Dreamweaver. In my opinion it tools me a long time to get use to this software this may have been due to the fact of me not having using that software ever before. I have learnt many skills in this project. I have learnt a new software which I had never ever used in my 2 years of studying media. I also learnt a wider range of coding skills which I may use in the future if I go into website creating and management. The main source of my inspiration was a website which is run by Truseell Trust. This is because of Trusell Trust being a big company and have many food banks in every area. I experimented with my website by adding different pictures/backgrounds on the website but none of them look nice as I had to write text on it and it just didn’t look nice with text on top as sometimes the background was too dark or too colourful. I faced a lot of issues as well when using Dreamweaver which was the software was crashing, I kept losing my styles I created so I had to log off and log in again to get them back which set me back in my work a lot. If I had time to improve my website, I would add more detail to my text for people to know what we actually do. This is because the writing I have used is really simple and straight to the point. But I did that, so people don’t find my foodbank boring and just a foodbank which like to brag about themselves.

App

I decided to do a simple app design this was due to the fact of me wanting to make it easier and make it simple for young adults and teenagers to look at. I used a few colours with a simple coloured background. This helped me in a way of showing that it is easier to be seen from a short distance and long distance. My app was really successful in my opinion this was because of the look I had decided to give it. I used readable size and used colours which wouldn’t affect the text and how it can be seen or read.  I out the logo on the top left of the page as I personally look into the top left of the page when opening a website to see if anything is said underneath the URL. I used InDesign to create my buttons and my navigation bar. This was placed onto the right hand side of the app. I need to develop more skills using InDesign as an app maker. This is because when using this I enjoyed learning new features and skills. When I was doing my research I had seen a few different apps and I didn’t like the look and the detail of the apps. One app was the Stowmarket foodbank. This app wasn’t aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. There was one part on the website which caught my eye. I loved the part of it showing me what they need urgently and what they have a lot of. I had planned out what I was going to do with my website but I didn’t like the design which I had planned. I faced many difficulties when doing my app. I had issues when I was creating the front page as text wasn’t able to be seen from far because of the background colours. I would modify it by adding more pages on the app and adding more information.
As a whole I wasn’t really happy about the app as I was struggling to use it and was lacking time to complete it. I also didn’t like how I handled my design and the ideas which I came up with for the app.

Radio Advert

I personally think my radio advert was an emotional and effective ad. To make it I used a sound recording studio with a Roland recorder and a rode microphone. I found that there is a hum in the studio which I had to edit because of the error which was in the recording. I had to rerecord my radio advert 3 times do to background noises and a buzzing noise throughout the recording. My main source of inspiration was the videos I had to do an evaluation on. At first using the software I had found it difficult as it was something I hadn’t used in a while and was using new tools to create it. I had used many tools and tricks which I had learnt throughout the 2 years on doing media. I had learnt how to fade and use cuts in my radio advert so it is more effective as an advert. The most successful part of the advert was the use of the music which flowed with the voice over I had recorded. The difficulties I had faced was the background noise which was in the recording and also the volume of the recording was slow so I had to use tools to change that around. If I had got more time I would have changed a lot of things about it. I would have made the radio ad more longer with more detail.
